Two weeks ago, the US Department of Education notified school districts they have 14 days to remove all DEI programming in all public schools. Institutions which fail to comply may face a loss of federal funding. Well, time’s up.
Yesterday, the US Department of Education announced an “End DEI” portal.
… the U.S. Department of Education launched EndDEI.Ed.Gov, a public portal for parents, students, teachers, and the broader community to submit reports of discrimination based on race or sex in publicly-funded K-12 schools.
The secure portal allows parents to provide an email address, the name of the student’s school or school district, and details of the concerning practices. The Department of Education will use submissions as a guide to identify potential areas for investigation.
Parents, students, teachers, and the broader community now have a way to communicate directly with the Department of Education to let them know what their district is doing. Districts will have a much more difficult time operating “under the radar” hoping no one will notice.
It appears the time for delay is over. The North East School District, by direction of the US Department of Education, must take action immediately.

The press release also mentioned “divisive ideologies”, besides DEI. Thankfully most teachers steer clear of any questionable curriculum but there’s unfortunately a few who have taken the open door the past few years to weave these concepts into their classroom. Administrators can’t possibly know what actually goes on in every classroom so I hope the district has communicated this press release to their staff, and these teachers have the personal Fortitude to realize they could now jeopardize school funding. A lot of students, past and present, have shared concerns with parents regarding assignments etc., but felt like they just “had to go with the flow” so they wouldn’t get bad grades etc… it truly is time to get the focus back on strong academic standards. This divisive rhetoric is getting old and ultimately makes everyone miserable. Let’s get NESD back to the top in our county!
