During their regular monthly meeting Wednesday evening, the North East Community Marina Authority board installed their newest member, Dan Adamus, who was recently appointed by North East Borough council to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of board member Eric Urbanowicz.
The board then held their election of officers for the coming year. Board member Amy Burniston nominated Dan Adamus for the position of President, citing the fact that Adamus had been instrumental in the group that began the process of forming the authority and was part of a group that has been somewhat vocal in their views about how the marina should be operated.
Officers for 2025 are:
- President: Dan Adamus
- Vice President: Amy Burniston
- Treasurer: Tim Truitt
- Secretary: Ed Mascharka
Secretary Ed Mascharka summarized discussions about costs related to sand movement and dredging and alternatives that may be considered to reduce those costs. There were applications from companies wishing to operate the marina and also upcoming tours of the facilities for those companies wishing to lease the space available for operating a restaurant. Several members again stressed that unless and until the costs related to sand movement and dredging are resolved, the marina will not be able to continue to exist beyond the coming year.
Authority board meeting schedule for 2025
The meeting dates for 2025 were established for the first three meetings as the third Wednesday of each month at 7PM as they are now. The dates are: January 15, February 19 and March 19.
The meeting times, dates and location for the remaining months are still to be determined since the current time would conflict with regular evening operation of the marina in the months when the marina is open, as will the current location, since they are held in the space to be occupied by the restaurant.
