North East Borough Will Hold Hearing on Tax Credit for Volunteer Service Members

The Borough of North East hereby gives notice that the Borough Council for the Borough of North East, Erie County, Pennsylvania, at its regular monthly meeting on January 2, 2018, commencing at 7:00 p.m. at the Borough Hall, 31 West Main Street, North East, PA 16428, will conduct a public hearing on and consider enactment at such meeting of an Ordinance concerning the establishment of a Volunteer Service Credit Program, a summary of which is set forth below.

Ordinance establishing a volunteer service credit program; enacting tax credits for volunteer members of volunteer fire companies and non-profit emergency medical service agencies; and establishing administrative procedures and appeals. The above statement is a brief summary of the Ordinance to be considered, copies of which are available and on file at the North East Borough Office, 31 West Main Street, North East, PA 16428, the Erie Times News, 205 West 12th Street, Erie, PA 16534, the Erie County Law Library, Erie County Court House, Erie, PA 16501, and on the North East Borough website at www.northeastborough.com.

Let’s work together to keep an eye on things

  1. Everyone has the right to know what their government is doing.
  2. Transparency is expected in all government meetings and daily operations.
  3. Everyone working for the government works for, and is answerable to, you and me.
  4. All laws, regulations, ordinances, budgets, audits and other public records should be freely available, preferably online, for citizens to examine without special fees and paperwork before they can do so.
  5. When municipalities seek bids for contract work, all bid documents should be available online, free of charge. Printed copies, if requested, should be offered at cost.
  6. Agendas should be posted online a minimum of 3 days before public meetings take place allowing interested citizens an opportunity to hear discussions and offer input on matters important to them.
