While looking over the backup documents for the NE School Board meeting on August 7th, I noticed something interesting. There is a section that lays out the various schedules for the upcoming season and the JV football schedule has an asterisk: The JV season is pending having enough players. I seem to remember pointing out many times the declining student enrollment, but it fell on deaf ears. The field was covered in plastic grass at a cost of $4 million, taxes were increased, and now there’s not enough student players to field a JV football team. The incoming classes keep getting smaller. How long will it be before there aren’t enough players for a varsity team?
Something to think about …

The artificial turf project was a complete waste of taxpayer money. How was that even approved?
Jim says
Most football programs are removing their artificial turf due to much higher injury rates, and toxic materials in the ground rubber underneath.
Public schools are optimized for administrators, not for the student’s learning.

Once again, thank you Paul for your objective reporting. The community needs to see the facts and start asking questions…. Not just a few concerned citizens… These seemingly small things are indicators of bigger problems brewing…
