Retro Series Race Held at North East Slotcar Raceway

If you’re a man of a certain age, you remember slot cars, but you might have thought they disappeared years ago. Not so! They’re still around and coming back. Here in North East, there’s a track, North East Slotcar Raceway, with regular racing each week and they just hosted a Penn-Ohio Retro Series race with lots of action.

I remember tracks in this area from many years ago, but when I saw the notice for this race, I thought I would stop in to see what the current cars were like. In a word, fast! The controllers have come a long way, too. Computers do the timing and keep track of lap count, it’s much higher tech than when I last took part, but it’s the same racing action as before.

If you would like to see what it’s all about, you can stop by the track and rent a car and controller. They’ll even host a private event for scouts and other youth groups.
