A huge crowd of your friends and neighbors numbering in the many hundreds turned out Saturday night for the “Treemendous Night of Lights” in downtown North East. It almost seemed like the entire town was there in the park and along the street in anticipation of the parade, followed by the lighting of a 40 foot Christmas Tree in Heard Park and an impressive fireworks display.
The parade began with the North East marching band, followed by a gaggle of bicycles with riders decked out in holiday wear and then the fire trucks carrying Santa and Mrs Claus.
After the lighting of the Christmas tree and the fireworks it almost seemed like we were all taking part in a Hallmark Christmas movie where the town turns out and everyone gets into the spirit of the season.
If you weren’t there, you missed a great time. It was enough to chase the Scrooge out of anyone.

Great job Paul. It was a wonderful event and great to see so many people out enjoying all the hard work of the chamber, the borough, North East in Bloom and others. Kudos to Jen Smith for organizing it. We are blessed to have her on our team.

I didn’t make it to last year‘s event, but I made sure this year to make it. So glad that I did the lighting of the tree was beautiful and the fireworks were exceptional. Thanks to all involved to make this a wonderful experience. I will be there from now on.
