In a story first reported on GoErie.com, the Granite Ridge Apartments have been sold to Jason Pero and Nadia Shabanza-Pero of Pero Real Estate. Jason Pero grew up in North East while his wife, Nadia, came to the US from the Democratic Republic of the Congo when she was 13. She attended school in Cleveland, Ohio and also attended Mercyhurst University for hospitality management, sales and marketing studies.
The couple has been buying properties for 20 years and have become successful with rental properties in six states. They had actually begun talks with Granite Ridge before the move to turn the property into a migrant processing center. After that was called off, they again began discussing the purchase of the apartments which resulted in the sale.
(Jason) Pero said the acquisition is not only an investment in a “quality asset” but allows the couple to give back to the community by hiring local workers, from handypersons to property managers.
The couple already owns the 40-unit Meadows Apartment complex on South Washington Street and another six-unit apartment building in North East.
