In excellent news, Granite Ridge has just announced they will not be pursuing the unaccompanied minors program! The full announcement is shown below. They will continue to pursue partners and tenants such as caterers and event planners, sports and camps, performing arts and theater groups and much, much more.
Again, this is the news we have been waiting for and now, perhaps with some great ideas from the entire community, Granite Ridge will become the positive partner for North East we all hoped it would be and know it can be.
UPDATE: There has been some feedback about this announcement concerning the qualifying words “At this time …” and “It is always possible that circumstances may change in the future.” That’s understood and everyone in North East will be watching to be sure they don’t reverse course, but this statement is a huge step in the right direction.
If the community will offer ideas and, if possible, assist with introductions to help find good tenants and partners for the property, we can all play a role in making Granite Ridge a good neighbor and something we can all be proud of. Let’s try to be a part of the solution because that helps everyone.

Wonderful news!!! This place has so much potential. Our TOWN has so much potential. It takes one bad decision to ruin our community but a few good choices can swing things the other way. Exciting news!!

As homeowners new to the area, we were favorably impressed by the community response to the recent Granite Ridge proposal, I.e. the exploration of placing a detention facility for unaccompanied migrant children at the facility. And, we thank North East Online for the consistent, factual coverage of the matter.

I am so relieved to read this news. Our community deserves better than a “detention center”.
Huge thank you to you, N.E. PA Online. If not for this forum I would NOT have been so well informed. I also have to commend certain political forces, ie, Brenton Davis, Jake Banta, Heather Jones, Amber Belson, along with other members of the Borough & Township for being up front & present – THANK YOU.
Most of all – THANK YOU – to the citizens of N.E. for speaking up and being heard !!!!!

Wonderful news! First major step in regaining the publics trust. This relationship needs to be a win – a quid pro quo at least in spirit. That was the point I was trying to make last meeting. Can’t be one sided on the behalf of the land owner only.
