At approximately 2:15PM Wednesday, July 16th, three juvenile males were apprehended inside Miller Hall on the Mellon Veterans Outreach Center campus. They were discovered pouring paint on the floor and stairways in the building, which will require a difficult and costly cleanup. North East police were called and responded immediately and took the juveniles into custody.
M. Richard Mellon, CEO of the Mellon Heritage Foundation, said this is just the latest in a series of instances where the property has been damaged and vandalized. He said they will be looking to prosecute the guilty parties. He said the North East Police, when called, were quickly on scene and very professional in handling the situation.
This report is extremely disappointing and everyone in our community should be concerned when children engage in this sort of activity. It has to be stopped. We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Thank you for your comment: I want everyone who thinks it is fun to destroy property dedicated to the service and sacrifices of our Military and First Responders to understand they are hurting our heros and depriving them of an opportunity to be recognized and appreciated.

I’m truly sorry that some kids these days have no respect for other people’s stuff however to make them responsible n countable I would ask for them to do the work by cleaning up what they destroyed then make them do community service n the parents can supervise them or pay fines n get a criminal record! Our veterans deserve respect they protect n serve there country n the people in it !!

Thank you for your comment. Please pass the word, this conduct destroys everything we want to offer our Veterans and First Responders. Every act of this nature will be prosecuted.
Great Appreciation to our NE Police for their quick response.

New to North East, I find this sad and disheartening. I hope this is an isolated incident.
