The North East School District has scheduled a vote during the Thursday, September 5th school board meeting on making changes to school policy concerning Discrimination/Harassment as defined by 2024 Title IX regulations. Title IX changes were made in April by the Biden administration’s Department of Education which redefines the prohibition of sex discrimination to include discrimination based on gender identity. Currently, 26 states have blocked implementation of these changes and challenged them in court, however, Pennsylvania is not among them.
What does this mean?
When district programs and activities include separation on the basis of sex, in accordance with law and regulations, including but not limited to separate restroom or changing facilities or separate health and physical fitness activities, the district shall not implement such programs or activities in a manner that discriminates on the basis of sex, including an individual’s gender identity.

So, if a biological male identifies as a female, he may use the restroom or changing facilities designated for females.
Does this also mean boys playing on the girl’s athletic teams? Bring your questions to the board meeting.
