Borough of North East to Consider Parking Meter Ordinance

The Borough of North East hereby gives notice that the Borough Council for the Borough of North East, Erie County, Pennsylvania, at its regular monthly meeting on May 4, 2020, commencing at 7:00 p.m. at the Borough Hall, 31 West Main Street, North East, PA 16428, will conduct a public hearing on and consider enactment at such meeting of one (1) ordinance:

Ordinance Regulating Parking Meters within the Borough of North East, summaries of which are set forth below.

An ordinance of the borough of North East, Erie County, Pennsylvania, repealing ordinance no. 887 and all of the subsequent amendments to ordinance no. 887 including but not limited to ordinances nos. 890 and 895, and restating in its entirety an ordinance providing for the acquisition, installation, and regulation of parking meters; providing for the parking on certain streets; authorizing the use of parking meters thereupon and providing penalties for the violation thereof and providing penalties for the violation of this ordinance.

The above statements are a brief summary of the Ordinance to be considered, copies of which are available and on file at the North East Borough Office, 31 West Main Street, North East, PA 16428, the Erie Times News, 205 West 12th Street, Erie, PA 16534, the Erie County Law Library, Erie County Court House, Erie, PA 16501, and on the North East Borough website at www.northeastborough.com.

  2. Transparency is expected in all government meetings and daily operations.
  3. Everyone working in the government works for, and is answerable to, you and me.
  4. All laws, regulations, ordinances, budgets, audits and other public records should be freely available, preferably online, for citizens to examine without special fees and paperwork before they can do so.
  5. When municipalities seek bids for contract work, all bid documents should be available online, free of charge. Printed copies, if requested, should be offered at cost.
  6. Agendas should be posted online a minimum of 3 days before public meetings take place allowing interested citizens an opportunity to hear discussions and offer input on matters important to them.
