North East Now Has a Live Weather Camera

You’ve likely seen Tom Atkins on WJET TV showing you the weather cameras in towns around both Erie and Crawford counties, but you never saw the view from North East because we didn’t have a camera. Well, now we do. It faces Gibson Park and it’s just in time for the holiday season so you can see the lights in the park every night and the weather during the day. How cool is that?

I’m not sure how long it has been in place, but I just found out about it and I thought some of you might want to know about it, too. The view will sometimes change, they may zoom in for a closer look or out for a wider view or point the camera in a different direction, you just never know what you might see. The camera is part of the YourErie.com WxCAM Network and every now and then, it might be the camera of choice on the TV weather report.

For those North East residents who are out of town, they can check in and have a look to see what’s happening weather wise at home. This camera joins the other live North East cameras, one at Freeport Beach and the train cams at the Lake Shore Railway Museum.

  1. Everyone has the right to know what their government is doing.
  2. Transparency is expected in all government meetings and daily operations.
  3. Everyone working in the government works for, and is answerable to, you and me.
  4. All laws, regulations, ordinances, budgets, audits and other public records should be freely available, preferably online, for citizens to examine without special fees and paperwork before they can do so.
  5. When municipalities seek bids for contract work, all bid documents should be available online, free of charge. Printed copies, if requested, should be offered at cost.
  6. Agendas should be posted online a minimum of 3 days before public meetings take place allowing interested citizens an opportunity to hear discussions and offer input on matters important to them.

  6. I enjoy the camera from California however it seems to be down more that up. I monitor the railroad museum camera and the sunset camera and am disappointed with the reliability of the weather camera.

  7. Thank you to everyone involved in getting the webcams up and keeping them live. Out of town more than there. It’s nice to check in with the actual weather when traveling back that way.

  8. Greetings from Orlando, FL. Just found out about this and subscribed. Nice to see the snow without having to deal with it. I do miss North East. It’s cool that there’s a web cam now. I can check in on my home town.
