If you enjoy the sight of older cars and trucks, you would have been grinning last night during the first of 2025’s Small Town Cruise Ins. Most all of the American car companies were represented, along with an MG Midget from across the pond, but no matter what your preference, you were likely to find something to put a smile on your face.
The white 1951 Chevy pickup at the top of the page is owned by local North East resident Matt Putman. It’s a resto-mod, which means it looks close to stock, but there have been some changes made, in this case the engine is a 305 cubic inch V8 from an IROC Z-28 with a 350 Turbo Hydro automatic, Camaro suspension front and rear and lots more. It’s a real beauty and the kind of truck you can take out on sunny Sundays for a pleasant drive into yesterday.

This 1956 Chevy is powered by a small block 350 V8 and the body and chrome are just about perfect. It’s almost guaranteed to call the owner out to the garage on the weekend and ask to be taken for a drive.

This 1932 Ford also has small block Chevy power and is an example of the kind of hot rod that would fit right in at any cruise night.
Some of the other cars present were a 1959 Plymouth, a 1959 Pontiac, a 1970 Mustang Mach 1, Pontiac Firebirds, a Buick Riviera, Mercury Cougar, a Dodge Charger, Oldsmobile 442, a couple of Chevy Novas, Ford Fairlanes and on and on. Like I said, a lot to look at and enjoy. You’ll find the owners happy to tell you all about their pride and joy and if you weren’t there last night, I highly recommend getting out for the next one.
