Pursuant to the Land Recycling and Environmental Remediation Standards Act, the Act of May 19, 1995, P.L. 4, No. 1995-2 (“Act 2”), notice is hereby given that Ironstone Properties LLC, has submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection a Notice of Intent to Remediate for a Site located at 12214 East Main Road, in North East Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania. This Notice of Intent to Remediate states the site was utilized for equipment sales and formerly utilized as a truck stop.
The Site has been found to be contaminated with trichloroethylene and associated degradation products in soil and groundwater. Semivolatile organic compounds (SVOCs) were identified in soils associated with stormwater conveyance and a former oil belt skimmer. Ironstone Properties LLC intends to demonstrate one or a combination of Act 2 cleanup standards, including Site-Specific Standards and Statewide Health Standards. The proposed future use of the site will be non-residential and the property is proposed for use as a truck stop and restaurant operations.
Act 2 provides for a 30-day public comment period for Site-Specific standard cleanups. The 30-day public comment period is initiated with publication of this notice. Until September 11, 2025, North East Township may submit a request to be involved in the development of the remediation and cleanup of the site. North East Township may also submit a request during this 30-day comment period to develop and implement a public involvement plan.
