A restored GE locomotive, the Chesapeake & Ohio B30-7 No. 8272, is currently being highlighted on Trains.com. Painted in the famous yellow, orange and black “Chessie Cat” color scheme which it wore when initially delivered, it’s currently on display at the Lake Shore Railway museum, having arrived there seven years ago. (Has it really been that long?) As noted on Trains.com, it was donated by CSX to the museum after being repainted at the CSX shop in Huntington, West Virginia and it’s a pretty impressive sight.
The locomotive was on display for several days at the GE (now Wabtec) plant, where it was built in 1980, before being delivered to North East.
It’s nice to see the shout out in a national magazine for one of our local sights. Railfans not aware of the locomotive should stop at the museum and check it out.
