Greenfield Township Intends to Adopt Ordinance Amending Pension Plan

Greenfield Township, Erie County, PA, hereby gives Notice of its intent to adopt proposed Greenfield Township Ordinance No. 2024-1, entitled:

“An ordinance of Greenfield Township, Erie County, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, electing to amend its non-uniform pension plan administered by the Pennsylvania municipal retirement system pursuant to Article IV of the Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement Law; agreeing to be bound by all provisions of the Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement Law as amended and as applicable to member municipalities”

at a regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Greenfield Township Municipal Building, 11184 Rich Hill Road, North East, PA 16428.

The Ordinance sets forth Greenfield Township established a non-uniform pension plan administered by the Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System (“PMRS”) and Greenfield Township is electing to amend its non-uniform pension plan administered by PMRS that established the basic benefit accrual rate for all active members of the Plan by changing the final average salary multiplier from 1.25% to 1.75% during the period from January 1, 2025 and thereafter. The Ordinance further provides Greenfield Township agrees to be bound by all requirements and provisions of the Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement Law and the Municipal Pension Plan Funding Standard and Recovery Act, and accepts the Adoption Agreement Amendment provided by PMRS and agrees to the financial obligations resulting from the administration of the Adoption Agreement Amendment.

A complete copy of the proposed Ordinance and the Adoption Agreement Amendment with PMRS may be examined and copied without charge at the Greenfield Township Municipal Building between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The public is invited to attend said public meeting.
