At Monday’s meeting, NE Borough Council voted unanimously to approve Ordinance 944, regulating the demolition of historic structures.
Council also voted for two new members to join the marina authority board. Only one position had been open due to the resignation of Dan Adamus, however, at the start of the meeting, board member Micheal Dunlavey submitted his resignation for reasons related to his health. As a result, Council then voted for two new members from the four applicants. The new members chosen are William Roberts and Mike Wilkinson.
Council was also asked to appoint a representative to the marina strategic planning committee. Mayor Bobbi Jo Morey indicated she would be willing take the position and council voted to approve.
In other business, Dr. Roche Vermaak from Habitat for Humanity spoke to council members and said their organization was planning to build in North East, a community where they had not yet done so, having already built a large number of homes in other municipalities in Erie County. He briefly described the process of how potential buyers could qualify to purchase one of their homes and their obligations under the agreement. Further discussions with the Borough will be taking place.
