The resignation letter from Dan Adamus as Marina Authority Board president was accepted by NE Borough Council at the Monday meeting. Council will now advertise for a replacement to fill the vacancy.
During public comments, Eric Urbanowicz, past president of the authority, offered to fill in as a temporary replacement, if doing so is legally allowed by the charter, giving council time to find a qualified permanent candidate. Tim Truitt, past authority treasurer, supported Eric’s offer and stated it would provide added relationship continuity with the DEP, the Army Corps of Engineers, our PA Representative Jake Banta and Senator Dan Laughlin as well as with our US Representative, Mike Kelly, all of whom are crucial working partners for any long term solution to support continuing marina operations.
Urbanowicz emphasized his position would be strictly temporary, perhaps one to three months. He was asked to submit a letter outlining his proposal. Council gave no indication they either supported or would consider the offer.
Urbanowicz also stated the current revenue being generated by the marina is insufficient to both support operations and move the sand as they are legally obligated to do.
The next meeting of the marina authority is Wednesday, June 17th.
