In the agenda for the upcoming meeting of the North East Township Supervisors, Monday, August 17th at 9AM, there is a single item listed under new business, “Discuss Proposed Data Center Ordinance.” Erie County put together a proposed draft ordinance to be used in those cases where the individual municipalities do not have one of their own.
North East Township does not have one and our planning commission would normally review any such proposed ordinance, and using it as the starting point for a township ordinance, submit their recommendations and changes to the supervisors. Supervisors would then add any changes they thought appropriate after which a public hearing would be scheduled.
Did the planning commission already deal with this issue? It doesn’t appear so, in which case, what are the supervisors going to discuss, the county’s proposed ordinance or one they put together on their own? Interesting.
Also interesting is scheduling the ordinance discussion, something many in our community are interested in, for the Monday morning meeting when many township residents might find it more difficult to attend.
