Summer is finally arriving. Are you looking for a nearby summer road trip destination offering something different and fun? You might want to consider the new Finger Lakes Railway Experience launching over the Fourth of July weekend.
The FLX Rail Experience will operate a five-car train with deluxe coach, premium, and first-class accommodations. This excursion rail service will include: family trains, wine trains, evening club trains, and brunch trains, with ticket prices starting at $30 per person. The train trips will range in length from one-hour to two-and-a-half hours roundtrip, and they will depart from Canandaigua, Geneva, and Seneca Falls on various weekends across the ten-week-long season.

Complete with restored 1940s-era passenger cars from the Golden Era of railroading, these trains will offer memorable views and unforgettable experiences for passengers of all ages. Trains will run Friday through Sunday all of July and August 2025
There are quite a few railfans in the North East area, but these excursions would be fun for most any families and groups. Who wouldn’t enjoy a leisurely train ride through the countryside? What’s not to like? Canandaigua, NY is a 2 and a half hour drive from North East with the other departure points a bit further away.
