The North East Borough Water Authority is proceeding with improvements to its Public Water System (PWS ID: 6250061). The name of the project is Phase I Water System Improvements.
The project includes:
- Installation of Standby Electrical Generators at the Freeport and Route 20 Raw Water Pump Stations
- Replacement of Existing Pumps at the Freeport Pump Station
- Installation of a Computer Monitoring and Control System (SCADA) at the existing Water Treatment Plant
- Installation of Building Covers over the existing Sedimentation Tanks at the Water Treatment Plant
- Installation of approximately 2,000-lineal feet of Waterline Replacement along Hutchinson Drive
The project sites are located in North East Borough and North East Township in Erie County, PA.
The North East Borough Water Authority will be applying to the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PennVest) for project funding. User rate impacts will be determined after receipt of a PennVest funding offer, which could include both low interest loan and/or grant.
The project qualifies for and is being considered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) for an environmental review Categorical Exclusion.
