Two World War 2 bombers, a B-17 Flying Fortress Sentimental Journey and a B-25 Mitchell Maid in the Shade, owned and flown by the Commemorative Air Force based in Arizona, will be flying into Erie June 30 through July 5, 2026 as part of their Flying Legends of Victory Tour to help celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

The bombers will be offering ground tours and a limited number of tickets are being sold for the opportunity to fly in both the B-17 and B-25. There will be several flyovers giving photographers an opportunity to take those perfect shots.
Experience history in person
It isn’t often we get the opportunity to see vintage aircraft like these bombers up close so this is something not to be missed. Mark these dates on your calendar, schedule some time and then make sure you take some great photos.
And even better, these are coming just a few weeks after the Big Boy 4014 steam locomotive is rolling through giving everyone a chance to see a vintage locomotive from the same era as these bombers. History is coming alive. What a great year!
