2023 Municipal Primary Sample Ballots Are Now on the Voter Information Page

The 2023 municipal primary election takes place on Tuesday, May 16th. You can review the sample ballots on the voter information page to see the candidates running for office in your specific area.

Please take the time to review each candidate, so you can make an informed choice on election day. Your vote does count. Show up and vote!

  1. Everyone has the right to know what their government is doing.
  2. Transparency is expected in all government meetings and daily operations.
  3. Everyone working in the government works for, and is answerable to, you and me.
  4. All laws, regulations, ordinances, budgets, audits and other public records should be freely available, preferably online, for citizens to examine without special fees and paperwork before they can do so.
  5. When municipalities seek bids for contract work, all bid documents should be available online, free of charge. Printed copies, if requested, should be offered at cost.
  6. Agendas should be posted online a minimum of 3 days before public meetings take place allowing interested citizens an opportunity to hear discussions and offer input on matters important to them.

  1. IS THERE A SITE WHERE THE PUBLIC CAN READ THE BIOGRAPHIES OF CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR POLITICAL OFFICE?

    IF SO, WHERE MIGHT I FIND IT?

    IF THERE ISN’T, WHY ISN’T THERE ONE?

    • I agree, there should be one, but there isn’t. Anyone running for office should explain why they’re running and what they hope to accomplish, whether they’re running for the first time or running for reelection. Even those running unopposed should tell us why they want our vote again. A yard sign with their name on it doesn’t tell us anything.

      A good example are the candidates for the North East school board. There are quite a few and most voters have no idea who they are or what they stand for. Schools have become a battleground of conflicting social issues and trends instead of a place for students to learn. Having a board focusing on actual education and supporting the views of parents should be a priority.

      I’ll try to set something up. Now, if I can just buy some extra time.
