May 10, 2023 by Paul Crowe

Granite Ridge North East

Granite Ridge has sent an update with some answers to questions they’ve received. It is presented below. If you are planning to attend the meeting tomorrow evening, it would be very helpful if you read this message beforehand. The impression given is that they have not yet committed to the influx center, but many questions remain. Read it and decide for yourself. (2 pages)

Culmen International is a huge military contractor that “focuses on services related to domestic and international security, military readiness and support, and stability operations”

Culmen International does not typically oversee the welfare of children, but they got a $29 million dollar contract to operate the migrant youth facility at the Dallas Convention Center.

Kirsten Chilstrom, a Dallas-based special education teacher, started volunteering at the convention center shortly after the young people arrived as a part of a program managed by the Catholic Charities of Dallas. She describes Culmen’s treatment of the youths in carceral terms.

“It’s disturbing… They are being treated like prisoners, and it’s insane,” Chilstrom told The Daily Beast.

Sam Hodges, a Dallas-based MBA student who volunteers with the Catholic Charities, echoed Chilstrom’s assessment of Culmen International’s management of the facility. “They treat it like it’s a jail,” Hodges said.

Culmen is also an arms dealer and they have been shown to have sold arms to terrorists around the world:

“Military aircrafts of Azerbaijan transported 282 tons of cargo (PG-7VL and other grenades) on 10 diplomatic flights in April and May 2017 to the destination Baku-Rijeka (Croatia)-Baku. The consignor was the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, and the consignee – Culmen International LLC, USA. This same company has been awarded two contracts ($47 million each) along with other contractors for non-US standard weapon supplies on 18 February 2016 and 19 April 2017 respectively. Culmen International LLC has also signed a $26.7 million contract for foreign weapons with the Department of Defense and a $3.9 million contract for newly manufactured non-US standard weapons”

Culmen is responsible for transporting illegal immigrants all around the country and are hiring:

Culmen International is hiring Ground Transportation Coordinators to provide support for the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement program.

    Background

The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), Division of Unaccompanied Children’s Operations (DUCO) program provides unaccompanied children (UC) with a safe and appropriate environment until they are transported to appropriate sponsors while their immigration cases proceed. ORR is an office within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), which is a division of the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS). The ORR has identified a critical need for transportation services at a national level to transport UC in ORR facilities located throughout the United States.

    Description of Work:

The Ground Transport Coordinator (GTC) makes domestic travel and lodging arrangements for company employees and UCs. The GTC is responsible for coordinating routes and scheduling with the Travel Coordinator and other appropriate staff. They will organize routes and coordinate vehicles, confirming availability via phone. The GTC sets, updates, and maintains daily/weekly route schedules.

Principles We Believe In:

More freedom - Less government
Think for yourself - Do it yourself
Free markets - Made in the USA
Buy American - Hire American

Sounds pretty good, doesn't it?

We Support American Energy Independence

Oil, coal, natural gas, hydroelectricity and nuclear power - all produced in the United States, can provide all of our country's affordable, efficient, reliable and on demand energy needs for centuries to come.

We Support Real Elections

"... one man, one vote, in person, on Election Day, in public, with ironclad voter identification. Absentee ballots should be limited to overseas military personnel only; if you’re out of town or even the country, that’s your choice. There should be no “ballot curing,” drop-off votes, early votes, or judge-mandated late votes."
~ Michael Walsh

"... with paper ballots, hand-counted in public with multiple observers and no voting machines."
