Wednesday’s meeting of the North East Community Marina Authority covered familiar territory, however talks between the authority and the PA Fish and Boat Commission are happening every day now and the last details of the ownership transfer are being worked out. Board President, Dan Adamus said as soon as the agreement is signed, the process of installing the docks will begin as well as seawall repairs, following all necessary and appropriate safety procedures.
The large crowd at the meeting seemed both appreciative of the work the board was doing, but at the same time growing impatient with the pace of the reopening. Board members Michael Dunlavey and Ed Mascharka explained how the authority’s actions were strictly limited by the PAFBC which still owns the marina and is preventing repairs and dock installations.
The ownership transfer could happen within days if everything goes as planned. The authority board is working to be sure the transfer doesn’t result in unknown current obligations or liabilities which could prevent successful operation going forward. Two motions during the meeting gave the board members the authority to sign the paperwork for the transfer as soon as it was agreed upon and available without having to call for another meeting.
There was a signup sheet at the end of the meeting for anyone who wanted to volunteer to assist in dock installations when given the green light and the line was long. Everyone wants the marina open ASAP. There are no guarantees, but it appears we are very close to seeing boats in the water.
