NE School District Proposes Final Budget with Tax Increase of 2.98 Percent

Proposed final budget includes 2.98 percent tax increase

The proposed final budget of the North East School District has a proposed tax increase of 2.98 percent. This follows an almost 4 percent increase in each of the previous three years. The election to choose new school board members really does count. If you think the school district should live within its means and stop raising your taxes, then vote accordingly in November.

Just for reference in Erie County, Corry schools have a zero tax increase, Union City schools have a zero tax increase and even the City of Erie schools propose a zero tax increase.

The next school board meeting is Thursday, May 22nd at 6:30PM.

This is crazy! It happens every year since Covid! This Act one deal needs to go! They’ll say look we could have asked for alot more using the act! But we are trying to be nice and only ask for 2.98%. Some board member who’s running for re election will site that they stood up and got it lowered. What needs to happen is the district needs to tighten its belt. Work with what they have in other funds stashed away for a rainy day. Our Seniors in our community need a break.

The current superintendent needs to go. She has directed tax increases ever since she has been here. and has also initiated some unhealthy policy changes. Start living within your means.! Most on the school board need to go and the replacements need to require fiscal responsibility. and a new superintendent.

$18,0000.00 admin trip to Chicago this summer. How about investing that in furthering our teachers continuing Education, seeing as we have dropped to one of the lowest performing school districts in the county. But no…. Admin will have a grand time on our penny in Chicago.

Watched her on video turning her back on someone at the school board meeting, totally unprofessional, amongst a slew of other unprofessional acts I have heard about.

The North East ’25-’26 inbound Freshman class has only 90 kids!

Why is any school district raising taxes when the US Dept of Education is shutting down, and returning the funds directly to the states?

Hmmm. Wonder why the significant drop?Would like to know how many kids could/should be attending but have chosen alternative paths for high school… private, homeschool, cyber etc… yet admin refuses to address the glaring issues. More and more families are waking up to the reality of what goes on in the classroom.

The NE Journal, as you know, printed the school budget passing by a 5-4 vote, but did not list the names. Do you know who voted to pass the budget?

    Thanks,

    Buck
