North East Borough Zoning Hearing Board to Consider Height Variance for Cell Tower

The North East Borough Zoning Hearing Board will hold a public hearing on Monday, March 12, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the North East Borough Chambers, 31 West Main Street, North East, PA 16428.

The Zoning Board will hear the following variance request:

Up State Tower Co., LLC, obtained a lease agreement with Loop Properties, Inc. owners of property on South Washington Street, (Parcel No. 36011064001300) requests a variance to construct and operate a 160’ cellular tower. The named parcel lies in a M-1 Industrial Zoning District. Ordinance No. 865, The Regulation of Wireless Telecommunications Facilities in the Borough of North East, ARTICLE IV. USE REGULATIONS, SECTION 1 General (t) (i) Height Restrictions state no new telecommunications facility shall exceed 100 feet in height.

Anyone with an opinion either for or against this request may be heard. Any person with a disability requiring special accommodations to attend this meeting should notify the Borough at 725-8611 five (5) working days prior to the meeting. The Borough will make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations.

Let’s work together to keep an eye on things

  1. Everyone has the right to know what their government is doing.
  2. Transparency is expected in all government meetings and daily operations.
  3. Everyone working for the government works for, and is answerable to, you and me.
  4. All laws, regulations, ordinances, budgets, audits and other public records should be freely available, preferably online, for citizens to examine without special fees and paperwork before they can do so.
  5. When municipalities seek bids for contract work, all bid documents should be available online, free of charge. Printed copies, if requested, should be offered at cost.
  6. Agendas should be posted online a minimum of 3 days before public meetings take place allowing interested citizens an opportunity to hear discussions and offer input on matters important to them.

    I am not in favour of this especially if it lowers my property value or raises my taxes.

    The health effects of EMF radiation from these towers should be studied. The owners should be required to provide substantive data on FCC compliance, EMF impacts and be prepared to subsidize mental and physical health to NE residents.
