The North East Township planning commission had it’s first look at the Borough’s wastewater discharge relocation project during their first 2016 meeting. An overall drawing showing the new pump station and pipeline locations provided a comprehensive look at what is going to be involved.

This was an chance for the planning commission to review the details, though it still needs approval from the Department of Environmental Protection. It was primarily an informational overview. No action by the commission was necessary.

This is a large and complex project that will require long distance subsurface directional drilling, the lake and nearshore drilling is almost 3000 feet. We’ll provide more details as they become available.

Let’s work together to keep an eye on things

  1. Everyone has the right to know what their government is doing.
  2. Transparency is expected in all government meetings and daily operations.
  3. Everyone working for the government works for, and is answerable to, you and me.
  4. All laws, regulations, ordinances, budgets, audits and other public records should be freely available, preferably online, for citizens to examine without special fees and paperwork before they can do so.
  5. When municipalities seek bids for contract work, all bid documents should be available online, free of charge. Printed copies, if requested, should be offered at cost.
  6. Agendas should be posted online a minimum of 3 days before public meetings take place allowing interested citizens an opportunity to hear discussions and offer input on matters important to them.

Great post Paul with all the details and maps. The one question I have is why are they changing the discharge point?
